  • What is McCurtainCo.com?

    McCurtainCo is a website for posting classified ads and events. It serves the ArkLaText area and Southeast Oklahoma. We do not publish a physical paper we are completely online.

  • How to I create an Ad or Event?

    You have to register to post ads. This is to help deter spam. You can register an account on this page. http://McCurtainCo.com/user/register You can also create your account using Facebook or Google by clicking on the respective icon at the before mentioned link. It will ask you to confirm your username (some individuals would rather not use their real names when using Facebook to create the account) and it will ask you to create a password and enter your address. The address will be used as the default for any ads that you create but only city and state are required. If the item is at a different location from your default you can change it when you create the ad.

    If you have problem creating your account and need additional assistance, simply contact us by phone or using the contact form and we'll be happy to assist you.

    After you have registered and logged in. There are links to create ads from the main menu (you have to be logged in to see them) and also from your account page. The direct link is this one http://McCurtainCo.com/node/add/classified-ads but you won't be able to use it until you have created your account and logged in. The classified ad form will ask for a title, some text to describe the ad, images, a category (you may select more than one) and an address/phone number. After the ad is published there will be a map to the item so be as exact as you feel comfortable being with the address. The address will be used for location based searches. Add as many images as you feel you need. More is better. Hit the "save" button and your done. You can repeat the Create your ad step as many times as needed. You can always edit your ad after it is published. Ads remain active for 45 days but can always be renewed by clicking the "renew" button that will appear on your ad.

    People who are interested in your items will be able to send you an email but it is through a form on the site. Your email remains hidden and they can't access it directly.

  • Is my information safe with you?

    We will never sell your information. Certain information is published with your ad in order to enable those interested in your items to contact you. This can be as little as your city and state it's up to you to choose how much to display. Although interested parties can send you email, it is through a form on the site. Your email address is never shown directly.

  • What about Scams?

    McCurtainCo uses special software to deter spammers from posting on the site. However, we don't pretend to be able to catch all of them. If you think you have found a scam please flag the ad by clicking on the "flag" button on the ad. We will review it. Please check all items out thoroughly IN PERSON before you buy them. We simply provide a service and cannot verify any information about the ads posted. Never EVER give out your bank account information. NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is likely a scammer.

  • I think I found a scam. What should I do?

    If you think you have found a scam please flag the ad by clicking on the "flag" button on the ad. We will review it. You should also consider reporting the scam to Internet Fraud Complaint Center. McCurtainCo simply provides a service, we do not screen ads for legitimacy. Nor can we prosecute fraudulent behavior beyond removing the offending post from the site.

  • What about private party firearms transfers?

    We are not experts in firearms law. You may be able to find the answer to your questions ATF top-10 firearms questions. For firearms transfers across state lines, "Generally, for a person to lawfully transfer a firearm to an unlicensed person who resides out of State, the firearm must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) within the recipient’s State of residence. He or she may then receive the firearm from the FFL upon completion of an ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check"
